Good posture has become an increasingly important topic as we now spend much of our time sitting or standing in a fixed position. This causes our body to adopt unnatural and unhealthy postures as we are naturally used to moving pretty much all of the time, with only sleep being a prolonged period of stillness.
Since the industrial revolution changed the way we work, we are now subject to 8hrs or more a day holding the body in what are essentially foreign positions, with sitting being one of the most damaging to the body. Our core switches off, causing spinal deformation, internal organ ailments and cardiovascular deterioration.
For people in more physically demanding jobs, repetitive movements and long hours standing in one position cause the body to compensate by overloading one particular side of the body, thus causing long term nerve damage and coordination issues.
Even elite sports competitors find that a fully functioning core is essential to achieving that next goal and taking their game up a notch. The lower back is more than happy to take over when the core switches off due to weakness, resulting in the all too familiar lower back ache after a days hard training.
At Core Fitness Solutions we specialise in core activation, meaning that the Glutes and Abs will be switched on and exercised extensively, along with the Hammies and Quads being stretched and strengthened. All of this contributes to a strong and healthy core, an essential part of achieving all of your health and fitness needs.
